Meet the kayaking team

Our kayaking team are here to look after you and share this beautiful island with you.

We’re also quite good at having fun and occasionally we have been known to come out with some interesting facts about Skopelos!

The kayaking team consists of;

  • The guides (the ones who get to mess about on the water).
  • The backroom staff (the workers!).
  • The helpers (some of the local children who are learning about kayaking).

Likes to think he is the boss of the kayaking team just because it was his idea to set the business up!
Born in a small town just north of Birmingham shortly before the 1970’s. Neil grew up listening to some of the best music ever written, still evident in his dress sense!
After a short time working in a local supermarket Neil joined the Fire Service where he worked for 18 years. He served at a variety of stations in Staffordshire, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall.
Before moving to Greece his sporting passions were cycling and generally being outdoors.
A good amateur cyclist Neil became the British Fire Services road race champion in 2000, and also rode some of the biggest cycle races in the UK, including the Elite Mens National road race championships.
He is also a bit of a sailor holding the Royal Yachting Association’s Yachtmaster award.
Now most of his time is spent messing about in kayaks.

In 2017 Neil completed the 125 mile Devises to Westminster canoe race in K1 over 4 days in a time of 17:57:37, finishing 11th out of 82 and winning the over 35s age group.

He currently holds the following British Canoe Union (BCU) awards;

  • BCU 5 star sea kayak leader
  • BCU UKCC Level 2 coach
  • Moderate water endorsement
  • 3 star sea kayak and sit on to provider and assessor
  • 1 & 2 star assessor
  • Paddlepower assessor
  • First aid trained
Neil McAra

Backroom staff, cook and occasional kayak helper.
Yvonne is also a pre 70’s child and was born in a small town just North of Birmingham. Her dress sense is a bit more stylish than the other team members.
A keen netball player and coach, Yvonne also competed at very high levels.
She also brings some of her social services skills to the business, especially when the guides throw their toys out of the pram!
Probably the most important member of the kayak team. Yvonne is the one who gets up early each morning to prepare the food fresh each day.

Yvonne is a UKCC level 1 coach and is working towards her level 2
She also holds the BC 3 star sea award and wants to gain the 4 star leader later this year

Yvonne Pearson

Kayaking team member extraordinaire, guide and all round good egg!
He has arguably the worst repertoire of jokes going, but he is determined to tell them regardless!!
Raz worked for the British Fire service for 30 years serving at a variety of stations and at the training center.
A keen rugby player he represented the British fire service and was also a member of the team that won the National 7’s trophy.
