Paddlepower courses for younger paddlers
Paddlepower is a series of courses from the British Canoe Union aimed at younger paddlers.
The courses are ideally suited to under 14’s but are also suitable for under 16’s.
If you would like more information then follow the link below to the BCU’s paddlepower handbook;
We have found that including the coaching sessions into a day trip works best with the best results.
This approach allows the whole family to be involved and the coaches can drip feed information allowing children time to practice and gain confidence before moving on.
Of course parents can get involved too which also helps with confidence and fun.
With warm, calm clear water and plenty of sunshine what better place to learn about kayaking.
The Paddlepower program is split into 5 awards, each award comprises of a series of levels.
We offer the first 3 levels;
Some of these awards are equivalent to some of the adult awards.
This level is a taster session.
The certificate is awarded to your child at the end of the session by the coach.
This certificate is awarded by the BCU after successful completion of the progressive levels.
Your child will receive a progress card with all the details of what is involved in each level.
As the levels are completed they will be signed off by your coach.
Once all the levels are completed the card is then sent off to the BCU who then award the certificate.
This award is the equivalent of the adult 1 star.
These levels go into more detail to improve skills.
Again your child will receive a progress card with the levels signed off by the coach as they are completed.
Once the card is completed it is sent off to BCU and a certificate awarded.
This award is equivalent to the adult 2 star award.
