British Canoeing sea kayak training course
Advanced sea kayak award
Our British Canoeing advanced sea kayak award training course is based in Milia beach village to the north of Skopelos island, Greece.
Skopelos offers a great environment for advances sea kayak award training with a wide variety of coastline, and small islands just off the coast. There is generally a current of between 1 – 2 knots which flows around parts of the island, this increases with changes in the weather, allowing us to test our navigation skills.

Course information
The British Canoeing advanced sea kayak award course is split into two parts, training and assessment.
A BC advanced sea kayak leader can lead groups in a moderate tidal water environments.
To attend this course you need to be at sea kayak award standard and hold the Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning module (CTNP). We offer the CTNP as part of our advanced training course.

BC advanced sea kayak award leader training course
The advanced training is run over 2 days.
If you require the CNTP module this course will take place the day before the training starts and the BC Aquatic 16 hour first aid course is a pre requisite of the advanced assessment, it is not required for the training.
If you only want to attend certain elements that is no problem.
The idea is that it becomes part of your holiday and gives time to coach the skills required at this level. We can then go and put these skills into action in a wide variety of environments around the island.
We also aim to include a night navigation exercise. These are not strictly part of the advanced training but its great fun and a very good test of group control and navigation skills.
Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.
Subjects covered in this course are;
- Personal paddling skills
- Rescue skills

BC advanced sea kayak award leader assessment
Following your advanced training there is a consolidation period for you to prepare for your assessment.
We ran our recent assessments in Anglesey, North Wales. This gave candidates the opportunity to experience two very different environments.
On offer at this time will also be the 2 day first aid which is a prerequisite of the advanced assessment.
Discounts will be available for those of you who wish to book both your training and assessment with us.
