Welcome to the greenest island of the Aegean, Skopelos
Skopelos is the largest island of Northern Sporades (North Aegean) and has a rich history and tradition. There are indications of habitation that date back to the 10th century BC, while at times it has been a major trading point in Greece. Today the island consists of 3 settlements (Skopelos Town, Neo Klima, Glossa) and has two active harbors. The town of Skopelos is the capital and the main port of the island, builded amphitheatrically with many picturesque small streets.
The geography and structure of the island is ideal for nature lovers as it offers alternative exploration options. Driving a rented vehicle, touring with kayak or choosing a hiking trail are only some of the things you can do to enjoy the beauty of the island. Τhe lush landscapes make up magic sceneries where hidden stone monasteries, old settlements, heavenly beaches and quiet spots are waiting to be discovered.
Despite the tranquility and harmony of Skopelos nature, the settlements of the island are lively places, developed with many facilities, accommodations, bars, markets and restaurants. Traditional events and festivals give even more liveliness in the summer and attract travelers from all over the world. Visitors can choose amongst many types of available accommodations, located either in the heart of the town or in more quiet areas.
