Getting to Skopelos
Travel information
Getting to Skopelos it’s easy!
Skopelos island sits between Skiathos and Alonissos just off the Greek mainland.
These islands are the largest of the Northern Sporades and have an excellent ferry service connecting them with each other and mainland Greece.
Skiathos has an international airport operating through the summer months of May to October.
There is no airport on Skopelos so all visitors arrive by ferry into one of the two main ports.
- Loutraki (named Glossa by the ferry companies after the traditional hillside village above the port).
- Skopelos town.
The lack of an airport is not a disadvantage as it helps the island to keep it’s traditional relaxing feel.
In the summer months (May – October) there are several ferry companies providing services to the main ports on Skopelos. The services run from the islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skyros along with the mainland ports of Agios Constantinos, Kimi, Mantoudi and Volos.
During the winter months the service is reduced. Getting to Skopelos is still simple with daily ferries from Skiathos, Alonissos, Mantoudi and Volos to the ports of Glossa and Skopelos town.
The main airports travelers use when getting to Skopelos are;
- Skiathos
- Athens
- Thessaloniki
- Volos.
There are good bus and train services from these airports to the ferry ports.
